My name is Mel Scott, and I'm a passionate pet photographer originally from a small town in New Zealand. Since 2000, I've been proud to call Australia my home.

Growing up on farmland, my love for animals has always been a central part of my life. As a child, I was fortunate enough to have at least two cats and a dog, and I even had the pleasure of caring for bunnies, budgies, goats, lambs, and goldfish from time to time.

When my family settled in Melbourne after years of travel, we decided to adopt our first Siberian kitten. Little did I know that feline addition to our family would ignite a deep passion within me for pet photography. Inspired by the unique personalities and moments of our beloved furry companions, I embarked on a journey to capture their essence through my lens.

While feline photography holds a special place in my heart, I find immense joy in photographing all types of pets. From dogs to rabbits, from birds to hamsters, each creature brings its own charm and character to the frame.

Beyond capturing stunning portraits, I have dedicated my time and services to supporting animal rescue groups. Volunteering closely with these organisations, I have been privileged to photograph the cats and dogs in need of loving homes. Though it breaks my heart to witness the stories of pets who were once abandoned, stray, or neglected, I take solace in knowing that my photography plays a role in helping them find their forever homes.

Please note that I am currently taking a hiatus from pet photography. However, I invite you to explore my portfolio and experience the extraordinary bond we share with our furry friends through the art of pet photography.

FAQ

Do you photograph humans as part of the session?

Absolutely, although, please keep in mind that my style is predominantly "candid", with your pet being the main focus.

How long does it take to receive my ordered products?

Turnaround time for product delivery/pick-up can vary, depending on products ordered, however you will generally have your artwork within 4 weeks of placing the order.

What days can we book a session?

Weekends are preferred, and the best time of day is early-mid morning and mid-late afternoon.  Week days can be arranged on request.

What do I need to bring/have on-hand?

Your fur kid's favourite treats and toy(s), any favorite props (if required).  For dogs; a neutral coloured collar and leash, if we are heading to public locations.  Thats pretty much it!

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

More than happy to reschedule, but would appreciate early notification if you are unable to make your session.  This enables us to schedule other appointments.  The session fee is non-refundable but we can definitely change the date with enough notice.

What if the weather is unsuitable?

Location shoots will be rescheduled on the day if the weather is no good.  Indoor home shoots are not affected by the weather.

Digital images

At Purrticular Photography each image has been retouched (with a lot of Purrticular love) so that they are works of art.  We believe that images should be professionally printed onto quality products to best display your chosen artwork.  We do all of this for you and with each print ordered you receive a low-resolution web image (discretely watermarked) to share on social media or save as your wallpaper.
